Founded in October 1922, London by a man named John Reith, 1st Baron Reith. John Charles Welsham Reith was British broadcasting executive who established the BBC.
The BBC has been running for 94 years now. The director general of BBC is chief executive and editor in chief of the BBC. The position used to be given to the board of governors of the BBC and is now appointed by the BBC trust. The BBC trust is operationally independent of BBC management and external bodies. The chairman of the BBC trust is Rona Fairhead.
The BBC is funded by public subscription in the form of a Licence Fee and licence payers paid £2,658 million in the years of 2002 and 2003 making the BBC the most extensive and best funded Public Service Broadcaster in the world.
Their mission (on the BBC website) is "To enrich people's lives with programmes and services that inform, educate and entertain." and their vision is "To be the most creative organisation in the world."
They have eight national channels including BBC one, BBC two, BBC news and CBBC. They have six regional channels including BBC one northern Ireland, BBC one Wales and BBC one Scotland. They also have 16 local channels including BBC one south east and BBC one north west.
They partly own alibi, dave, yesterday, gold, eden, drama, good food, home, really and W with scripps network interactive.
BBC own 11 international channels including BBC america and BBC Canada.
BBC own four FM radios including BBC radio 1 ( current hit music) and BBC radio two ( adult contemporary, jazz, soul and funk. BBC own seven AM and DAB and online services including BBC one extra which involves grime and hip-hop artists. They have a number of local and regional radio stations.
BBC has there own website covering news, sports, weather, i player and radio. I player was released in 2007 and it included all of the BBC channels online with all its TV programs on it as well on demand. BBC three use to be a TV channel but now has been removed from the TV and placed on the internet.

Sky is a global satellite broadcasting, on-demand Internet streaming media, broadband and telephone services company with headquarters in London. Sky was founded in November in 1990. The compay was founded by a man called Rupert Murdoch. Rupert Murdoch is an Australian born american media proprietor.
Sky has been running for 26 years now and is one of Europe's biggest leading media company with 22 million subscribers and 30,000 employees in the year of 2014.
First started in 1990 by sky television and British satellite broadcasting. Sky become the biggest uk digital subscription television company.
the initial owner of sky was Sam Chrisholm till 1997 then gave it away to mark booth. After him was Tony Ball in 1999. in 2003 Tony Ball resigned and James Murdoch was announced to be his successor.
